Rigo Concept (PSSE) Training Courses

Level 3 is an in-person course provided over 6 days totalling 48 education hours (8 hours/day). There is an even split between theoretical lectures and practical sessions.

Practical sessions include working with real patients who have structural alterations in spinal alignment.

Theoretical lectures include post-surgical management, complex case management and managing group classes, amongst other things.

Specific Objectives of the Level 3 course:

Learn in depth Adult Degenerative Scoliosis PSSE Management
Critically reason complex cases and required modifications to your treatment plan (goals and treatment)
Learn about the current surgical approaches for patients with scoliosis
Understand the most common post-operative complications presenting to physiotherapy
Learn how to manage a group of patients simultaneously
Establish a strong team around the patients with scoliosis
Completely understand the importance of ‘Looking after the person, not just the curve’ (Dr Manual Rigo)

At the end of Level 3 there is a practical exam whereby upon successful completion, the physiotherapist will be awarded their Certificate of Completion of the Rigo Concept (PSSE) as provided by the BSPTS.

When embarking on the complete BSPTS qualification, the movement to the next level of training is dependent on the successful completion of the previous course content with an examination pass of 75%. If the exam is failed, it may be re-sat within 3 months free of charge, from a remote location if required. If it is failed a second time, you will be required to retake the course at full cost before retaking the certification exam again.

I understand that BSPTS L1 certification is primarily intended for use in 1:1 individual physiotherapy treatment of patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS). It is not intended for entry-level use in adults with painful, degenerative scoliosis, group therapy, or immersion-type training, which are best provided after L2 certification.

I also agree that I will not use the material to train other physiotherapists or health practitioners in treating scoliosis.

I understand that BSPTS qualification is awarded only after completion of all required levels (L1, L2, L3) have been successfully achieved and within 6 years of the commencement date.
